Meghe Dhaka Tara ( The Cloud-Capped Star)
Written and directed Ritwik Ghatak, Meghe Dhaka Tara ( The
Cloud-Capped Star) deals with
the aftermath of the Partition
of Bengal during the Partition
of India in 1947 and the
refugees coping with it. Although Partition is never explicitly
mentioned in Meghe Dhaka Tara, it takes place in a refugee camp in
the outskirts of Calcutta, and concerns the problems by a family because of
Partition. Released in the year 1960, Meghe Dhaka Tara is one of the best known
films made by Ghatak.
